Salam, we received this audio recently. It is a response from Nuh Ha Mim Keller to a question posed by one of his former murids which has been copied below:
[Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I am quoting from your article 'iman, kufr and takfir':-
"Is it possible for Allah to lie? ...this is not intrinsically impossible, but only contingently impossible (mustahil ‘aradi)" further, you go on to say that this is not "a genuine ‘aqida issue, in the sense of being a central tenet of faith that no one can disagree about and remain a believer."
You are implying that it is permissible for one to believe that it is possible for Allah to tell a lie, but he will not do so since he has stated as such in the Qur'an. Surely, even if it was contingently possible for Allah to speak an untruth, but he decided not to do so, the truth of the Qur'an itself would be questionable.

To me and to those who tranbsmitted the aqeeda of Ahle sunnat wal jamat to me this issue is one of the foundations of belief.
This is who it was explained to me By Rais ul Muhaditheen Sayyed sahib Qibla alayhi rehma and shaykh Ahmed Rizvi (may Allah bless him)
"bunyal Islaami 3ala Khamsin (the foundations stones of islam are 5) Shahaadatay an laaillah illahu ( I declare there is no God except He (hu)
Hu refers to Allah Almighty like Sultan Arafin Sultan Bu alayhi rehma and Bullay Shah raheemahullah alyhi have said in the poetry (hu hu bahu, ander hu baari hu, bahu, he he with he, inside is he and out side is he, with he)
To understand Hu and to know how to believe in our Lord we must go to nabiyal mukhtar imam al Ambiya alayhi salatu was salam wal tasleem, Who stated "amantu billahi kamahuwa bi asmaa ihee wa sifaatihi" [ may imaan laatahu saat Allah kay saat us kay naamown aur siffato] to have imaan in Allah almighty you must accept his names and attributes one of which is haqq (truth). We know from the qur'an and sunnah that it is establish that truth and falsehood (in this case lying) cannot exist in the same point this is established for example from the ayat kul jaa al haqo wa zahakil baatil (lo! when truth come falsehood perishes (dissipates)......there when you have truth and falsehood together false dissapates and truth will always provail, This is especially the case for our Lord who created everything he cannot be truth and lie at the same time this is not befiting for him. Also there is a rule here that states "al matalqu yajree itlaaqihi" jo matalaq hayn wo aapnay maafoomay aam who gaa (what ever is absolute will be general in its meaning)Allah Almighty being absolute Haq means he will be haq (truth) in every sense of the word across time and space, so His (Allah Almighty) being Haq (trhuth) will always be absolute what ever the time or duration
for example
(1) if the universe existed for only 1 second Allah would still be Haq
(2) if the universe existed for 1 millennium or 1 million millenniums Allah would still always be absolute Haq
(3) on earth and its every atom, or the moon or its every atom, the university in it entirety or its every atom will make absolutely no difference to allah being Absolute haq
(4) even if time and space did not exist, even that place that has not time and space (lamakaam) which our beloved Prophet sallahu alayhi was salaam went to visit on miraj Allah was Almighty and was absolute haq!!!!!!
the only place for lies is in the tongue of the lier
Shaitaan (Satan) and the Angel of death are more knowledgeable than the holy Prophet is (Sallal Laahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam). (Baraaheen-e-Qaati'ah, pages 51 and 52).
The Prophet of Al-Laah was not aware of his ultimate fate and of things beyond a wall. (Barraheen-e-Qaati 'ah, page 51).
The kind of knowledge and the amount of knowledge of the unseen given by Almighty Al-Laah to the holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) has also been given to animals, lunatics and children. (Hifzul Ieemnan, page 7).
Even the thought of the holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) occurring during Namaaz is much worse than to be immersed in the thought of an ox or a donkey. (Siraat-e-Mustaqeem, page 86). (But the thought of Thanvi Sahib or any other Deobandi Mullaa coming during Namaaz is justified).
defend to dirty aqeedah of these people and be with them laku deenokum waliyadeen
No defects or negative attributes can be attributed to Allah Subhaanahu.
Shaykh al Islam Mujaddid Imam Ahmad Rida rahimahullahu Ta'ala has clarified this issue in his risaalah Subhaan al Subuh 'An Kidhb 'Ayb Maqbuh this is in the 15th volume of al Ataayaa al Nabawiyyah fil Fatawaa al Ridwiyyah.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allah is pure subhaan means pure.
No defects or negative attributes can be attributed to Allah Subhaanahu.
Damaan e baagh e Subhaan al Subuh
Shaykh al Islam Mujaddid Imam Ahmad Rida rahimahullahu Ta'ala mentions in this risaalah that the ganghohis deobandis ect and the wahhabis could not answer this risalaah (Subhaan al Subuh 'an Kidhb 'Ayb Maqbuh) and in sha Allah al 'Azeez they will not be able to.
This Risaalah Damaan e baagh e Subhaan al Subuh is in answer to a deobandi mawlawi that said that a human can lie so if Allah cannot lie then the qudrah power of a human will be more than Allah, al 'Iyaadhu billahi Ta'ala this is in the 15th volume of al Ataayaa al Nabawiyyah fil Fatawaa al Ridwiyyah.
